Tyler Robinson, MD, MPH is a general surgeon based in Sacramento, California. Originally from Santa Cruz, he received his BA summa cum laude in International Relations from UC Davis. He went on to earn his MD from the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine at Boston University, and his MPH from the T.H. Chan School of Public Health at Harvard University. He graduated from the General Surgery Residency Program at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY, where he was awarded the Kate and Robert D. Wickham ‘52 Outstanding Resident Golden Apple Teaching Award, and was the resident physician representative to the Medical Executive Committee. He pursued additional fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR.
Dr. Robinson is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, earned his Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellow Certificate through the Society of American and Gastrointestinal Surgeons, and is certified to perform robotic surgery using the Intuitive DaVinci system.
Fully trained to address the breadth of surgical pathology, he is most passionate about foregut, hepatobiliary, retroperitoneal and abdominal wall conditions, using a minimally invasive approach wherever feasible.
He has conducted a significant amount of research on a range of topics including surgical disparities and bariatric surgery, including as primary researcher for a randomized controlled trial supported by a multi-year extramural grant. He additionally is experienced in global surgery and humanitarian response.
Dr. Robinson is efficient and incisive in the operating room, but also warm and engaging with colleagues and staff. Patients frequently express their gratitude for his compassion, patience and championship on their surgical journey.
